Special interest areas

Due to my own diagnoses and lived experience, I work empathetically with ADHD, Autism and Anxiety. Overwhelm, meltdown / shutdown and Autistic burnout frequently arise when additional stressors (of any nature) are piled on top... unpicking the individual strands can feel impossible alone. I help with the careful separation of issues which feel "too much", and utilize Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques as a part of the process. Together with the client (and always at their pace), I identify goals for both the short and long term, and collaborate in finding small steps - that feel manageable - to move closer to the desired outcomes. .

Personal Statement

My own lived experiences of ADHD and Autism very much inform my practice. As we embark upon your therapy journey, I will always work at the pace set by you - exploring both ongoing and historic issues. Using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (which looks at the links between your thinking, emotions and behaviours), I can support you to find a healthy and manageable pathway from where you currently are to where you aspire to be. Bringing a person-centred approach to each meeting we have together, I am able to sit with your feelings and listen to your words without judgement. From the outset, we will work collaboratively - with you being in charge of the pace and direction. In between sessions, I may suggest homework "experiments" or new behaviours to try; and also encourage journal keeping (for personal reflection).
