Special interest areas

I work with all forms of trauma in both adults and children of all ages. I have extensive experience working both online and face to face, with teens and adults and have worked with neurodivergent children, young people and adults for over 20 years. I also have extensive experience working with grief, particularly traumatic bereavements, and anticipatory grief when a loved one or self is diagnosed with a life changing illness. I have worked with a lot of both suicidal feelings and self harm in both adults and children. I also have experience and am trained in the making sense of trauma model and working with trauma and grief within the first few weeks of impact.

Personal Statement

I am an integrative therapist, which means I am trained in a range of techniques and theories, and my aim is to use those best suited to you and your situation.

I have been working with neurodivergent children, young people and adults for over twenty years, first in a residential school and then moving on to train as a therapist. I have continued to work with neurodivergent individuals of all ages and deepened my knowledge in this area. I'm pleased to have seen our understanding grow in this area so much since I started out. During that time it became apparent that my own children and myself were also neurodivergent and this has fuelled me to dive deep into reserach and continues to develop my understanding to support my own family as well as others.

In our first session I will hear about what brings you to therapy at this time, and we may fill in some assessment forms to help me work out what methods might work best for you. I will ask about what you might like to get from therapy and talk to you about how we may work together. You will be in control of how we work, and throughout our time together we can adapt and change the approach to one that best suits you.  That means I welcome feedback about what is helping and anything that is not. I believe that you know what is best for you, and sometimes we just need someone to help us work that out and walk besides us on that journey.
