Personal Statement

My training was psychodynamic, which means looking at the often unconscious processes that can make life difficult as they make themselves felt. I look at the way relationships with the self and with others can develop, often following patterns set in childhood - sometimes in difficult, unhelpful or dysfunctional ways.

I work collaboratively, either long or shorter term, depending on the client’s requirements. I will adapt the focus and goals depending on the contract that is agreed. Clients can expect warmth, empathy and kindness, and a great deal of interest in all aspects of their lives. I hope to offer a safe space to talk about what needs to be discussed, but also enough challenge to create necessary changes as we progress.

 I can help clients:

  • better understand, recognise, cope with & manage distress and emotions linked to painful events
  • live life better in the moment
  • understand the causes and history of the distress
  • change their unhealthy coping strategies
  • aim for being able to feel more fulfilled and joy in life
  • who want to work with a compassionate and respectful therapist, who can challenge you to look at underlying strong, emotional, unconscious issues
