Special interest areas

I am particularly drawn to working with issues related to clients' sense of self-worth and how they interact and communicate with people in their lives. I see counselling as a potentially transformative journey that can positively alter and shape the ways we see and experience ourselves and in addition relate to others. I enjoy working with adult client of all ages and have gained substantial experience doing so. Over the last few years I have also gained additional specific counselling experience working with young adults aged 18-30. In fact, in addition to counselling university students online, I have also worked as Specialist Mental Health Mentor to students in Higher Education..

Personal Statement

I welcome a diversity of clients and am keen to honour the individuality of each one. I am eager to support clients in such a way that they can achieve relief from emotional distress, further their well-being, realise their potential, and bring meaning to their lives. I provide a warm, accepting, and empathetic space.

I work interactively drawing on both psychodynamic and humanistic principles. For example from a psychodynamic perspective I focus attention on the impact of the client’s past including childhood and present on their adult experiences and relationships in a wide range of contexts including, work, family, intimate partnerships and friendships. Please don’t be overwhelmed by any theoretical jargon. I am happy to communicate in clear and straightforward language and answer any queries you might have about how I work.
