Personal Statement
My foundations are as a person-centred therapist whereby the relationship, the client feeling heard and accepted are paramount. My experience and training in motivational interviewing has also taught me to support the client in formulating their own personal goals to work towards in therapy.
I use the initial sessions to ensure the right approach is utilised, whether it be to facilitate a safe space to be heard or a more problem based approach such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I have extensive experience working with clients with trauma backgrounds, with anxiety based problems, Autism related issues and low mood. I utilise approaches such as DBT, Mentalization based therapy and Schema therapy depending what will be the most helpful approach for the client on assessment.
I have learnt to be flexible in my approach as every client is an individual and I use evidence based interventions to gain the best outcomes.
