Personal Statement
I believe within counselling, a meaningful, trusting relationship with another human being is a vital part of the therapy, and that it is this relationship with another that enables us to understand and accept ourselves, to heal and grow.
I feel I have the qualities of self-awareness, genuineness or realness, empathy and an acceptance of others; all of which I consider to be vital in order to develop a therapeutic relationship with someone who is looking for help, with whatever it is that has led them to seek counselling.
As a counsellor I view myself as a fellow traveller, sharing a part of the client’s journey through life, for as long as they want me alongside them. I always feel both humbled and honoured when someone puts their trust in me and invites me to walk alongside them for a while and to share with me with their unique story.
